Career transition
France Sclérose en Plaques welcomes any basic and clinical research applications focused on Multiple Sclerosis or related disorders including, for example: immunologic basis of MS, myelin biology, axonal degeneration, restoration of myelin and axonal integrity, susceptibility to MS, epidemiology, virology, infectious disease processes that may trigger disease activity, imaging technology, identification and use of surrogate markers, clinical research and therapeutics, and so on.
- This grant is meant to support young investigators early in their professional career.
- The young investigator should have obtained her/his PhD degree within the last 5 years at the date of submission of the application (March 31, 2021). For maternity leave, an additional period of 12 months will be granted for each child. This information must appear in the CV. In the event of a long-term leave for a reason other than pregnancy, requests will be reviewed by the CMS on a case-by-case basis.
- There is no age limit.
- The candidate must have completed a postdoctoral internship of at least 2 years in the same laboratory, different from the laboratory where he/she obtained his/her PhD.
- The grant is a two-year award for a maximum of 158 K€.
- The grant covers the salary for a full-time researcher (64 K€/year), and for laboratory expenses (30 K€ for the 2 years).
- The second payment will be conditional upon the submission of an activity report approved by the CMS.
The project must be developed within a French research structure, supported by a university and / or a Public Research Entity (INSERM, CNRS, CEA, INRAe, …). - The candidate must join the host laboratory in France within one year after the date of the scientific committee (July 7 & 8, 2026).
- The host laboratory will provide a letter of support.
- The candidate cannot be involved in more than one project.
- Projects including OFSEP data will be sent to the “Centre de coordination national » (CCN) for feasibility study
- Any application from a laureate of an ERC or Impulscience program will not be eligible.
- The team leader cannot apply to a research grant.
- Only one “career transition” grant can be allocated to the same laboratory, every year.
REMINDER: In respect with the French law, the duration of fixed-term contracts in public laboratories cannot exceed 6 consecutive years (for postdoctoral fellowship). If you have already completed 4 years, a letter from the employer Institution is requested
